Background
As part of our coaching education initiative, we will provide you with material tailored to recreational coaches in our programs. It is our hope that we can provide you with the tools and resources to help you have a successful season.
The club is committed to following best practices within the soccer community for player development. We work with the US Soccer Federation (USSF) and US Youth Soccer (USYS). We are also partners with Soccer Parenting Association (SPA) and 205 Sports, a local coaching and player education non-profit.

The coaches introduction provides background on the start of the season – how to organize the team, meet with parents, some general ideas on practice sessions and games.

All UCYSL and UC Premier coaches are required to conform to the club Code of Conduct.
UCYSL / UC Premier Coach’s Code of Conduct
All recreational coaches will be required to take the US Soccer Federation (USSF) Introduction to Grassroots Coaching course. This 20-minute webinar provides some important information on practice structure. USSF also provides some sample practice resource material on various size/age formats. The link below describes how to sign up and take the course. You will be required to create an account on the USSF Learning web site if you have not already done so.

UC Premier Coaching Education courses and forums
205 Sports hosts coaching education courses and forums intended to provide information, ideas, and advice for competitive and recreational coaches.
The UC Premier Introduction to Coaching course is designed for the first time or grassroots coach new to the club.
The UC Premier Coaching Education forum has topics of interest to club coaches.
Access to 205 Sports UC Premier content requires site membership. Contact the club Technical Director for more details.
Soccer Parenting Association courses
The club has partnered with Soccer Parenting Association (SPA) to provide content to support the player-parent-coach relationships. All recreational coaches will be required to take an introductory SPA course. More information will be available from the Technical Director.
