I’ve been a lifetime athlete and love the game of soccer for its team atmosphere, what it can teach young players, and as part of a fit lifestyle.
My background in soccer started as a toddler when I started playing. I continued throughout childhood up until I was the lead defender on the Southern California champion high school team. At UC Davis, I competed on the gymnastics team so my athletic pursuits took a turn for a while until I came back to soccer later.
I am a United States Soccer Federation Regional Referee and one of the highest-ranked soccer referees in Northern California. I’m on the field for about 200 games a year ranging from U8 recreational through the highest-ranked youth and high school games, NCAA (college), amateur adult, semi-pro, and professional games. This gives me unique perspectives as a coach on the game at all levels of play.
I have been coaching for 6 years, starting as a recreational coach in UCYSL and then for UC Premier.
I hold the following coaching certifications: US Soccer Grassroots 7v7 Coaching License, US Soccer Grassroots 9v9 Coaching License, and US Soccer Grassroots 11v11 Coaching License.
I have been to a number of coaching clinics run by NorCal and Dutch national coaches and have an ongoing relationship with the Oakland Roots professional team for coaching education. My active mentors include our Technical Director, Scott Schoenthal, and the Oakland Roots head coach, from whom I have a rare personal invitation to attend their training sessions.
